Rain Forces Rutherford to Postpone Playoff Opener

Springfield, FL---The Rutherford Rams were supposed to host their state playoff opener, a 5A region quarterfinal against Wakulla.Thursday night. As it turns out, that game had to be pushed back to Saturday night at 6 o'clock.

The late afternoon storm that passed through the area Thursday afternoon dumped enough rain on the field in Springfield to force coach Hudson to call the game. The outfield in particular a bit swampy.

So the Rams, who have won ten of their 11 including the two in districts which won them the 5A-2 title, will have to wait two more days to make their playoff debut.

Coach Hudson telling me Thursday afternoon, shortly after calling the game, it's just not fair to make the kids play on a field that is drenched, especially in such an important game.

Hudson says his guys were itching to go Thursday, and they were disappointed, but they are resilient and they'll be ready to go Saturday night. Again that game now set for 6 o'clock.
