Panama City, FL---The Rutherford Rams have finished out a perfect district slate and finish the season 10-0 in league play with a 67-59 win at Bay Friday night.
The Rams grabbed an early five point lead, only to see Bay claw it's way back to within one by the early part of the second quarter. Rutherford did manage to hold the lead into the half and for the entire second half, but could not put Bay away as easily as they did in their previous meeting earlier this month. Rutherford won that first game 73-46.
Gabe Steele led the Rams with 15 points, Bay's Tommy Wade led all scorers with 22.
Rutherford now 18-2 overall, and again will head into the 5A-1 district tournament at Bay early next month as the top seed, and with a first round bye. Bay will also get a first round bye as the second seed, finishing district play 8-2, with both losses to Rutherford.
The attached video shows the following:
These two going back and forth early on, Rams in the dark uniforms, coming towards us, Josh Wade misses, Keith Arts there to clean it up for him though.
Then it's Dorian Reese driving in, he misses his first shot, then puts it back himself, five point Rams lead in the first.
Bay counters with Demetrius Rivers, first he drives and gets the roll.
Then on the break, he stutter steps, and takes it in again, scores, despite getting knocked to the floor, it's a one point game.
It stayed one or two possessions for much of the rest of the game, though the Rams did hold the lead through the end, Wade for three, then he takes the feed baseline. Rams win 67-59, go to 18-2, and at 10-0 clinch the district top seed and regular season title.
