Sand Hills, FL--- Both the Rutherford Rams and Bozeman Bucks celebrated their starts of the prep baseball season Thursday night.
Coach Jeff Patton and his Bucks were set to start their season Tuesday at Mosley, but after a few innings, rain forced a postponement.
No rain tonight as coach Patton and his guys laid out the welcome mat to coach Hudson and his Rutherford Rams.
From the first pitch all the way to the fifth inning, a pitchers duel existed between Bozeman starter Alec Aleywine and Rutherford's arm Nick Nelson.
In the highlights attached above, Aleywine finishes off Nelson, striking out the side in the top of the first.
In the bottom half of the frame, Nelson took to the rubber and put up the first of four zeros, pitching scoreless ball through four innings of work. He also came up with numerous strikeouts at clutch times all night long, including two in the first.
Still scoreless into the top of the 5th, the Rams hoping to get something on the board, get the offense going as Jeremy Lend bloops the single into right.
He gets lifted for a pinch runner who makes his way to third with two outs, and that run scores on the wild pitch from Aleywine. Rutherford takes a 1-0 lead.
Bottom half of the fifth, Alec helping to tie it, his bouncer heads to second, slips under the glove of Dakota McWilliams, in comes Brandon Suttles to tie it.
It would stay tied at 1 until the 8th, where the visiting Rams push three across and win it 4-1.
With both teams playing their first game of 2014, it moves the Rams to 1-0 while Bozeman begins play at 0-1.
