Springfield, FL-There certainly are some interesting games ahead Friday night on the high school football schedule, and you can count the one set for Riggs Stadium on that list.
The Rutherford Rams take their act west to face the Fort Walton Beach Vikings it what is our Southern Orthopedic Specialists Game of the Week.
This past Friday Rutherford beat Suwannee, giving head coach Alvin Dempsey his first head coaching win ever! That was big, but more so for the kids says coach Dempsey.
"It means a great deal to us, like I've been telling you all along, we've been one play away from winning football games. These guys kept believing and that really boosted their confidence level. Our practice for the last couple days has been very upbeat, they got some faith in what we're doing. And they just believe now, they really believe and that's part of that sign that we've got there, it says believe and once they start believing in the program and believing in us, things will start heading in the way they need to go."
Coming off the win, it's right for the Rams to see things getting tougher Friday night as they'll face a Vikings team that just beat district rival Mosley by 14.
"The next task at hand Fort Walton Beach," says Dempsey "is another great football team, great quarterback, some great athletes over there. A big time program. But if we do the things that we need to do, we can play a good game with 'em."
The Rams 1-3 overall, and hoping for some more big plays like the blocked punt for the touchdown here.
As for Fort Walton Beach, coach Mike Owens and his team taking a 3-1 record on to the home field against the Rams.
