Rams Hand Bulldogs First Loss of Season

Panama City, FL --- Entering play Saturday night, the Rutherford and Marianna boy's basketball teams had a combined record of 33-2.

In a clash of two of the area's top teams, two things were guaranteed. One team would walk out with a marquee win and both would do all they could to ensure they would be the one's getting the victory.

Coach Travis Blanton and his Bulldogs enter a perfect 18-0. They beat Coach Rhondie Ross and his Rams at their place in November. But this one's at Rutherford as the Rams in the home white led early.

In the highlights attached above, Keith Arts, going to work in the post, puts the Rams up seven in the second.

Arts, not done, gets the ball, from three, lite 'em up kid. He's pumped, wouldn't you be? Rutherford still up seven.

But this Bulldogs squad isn't undefeated for no reason, Shaquarious Baker from three. Good. That ties the game.

Next possession, it's Baker poking it away from Josh Wade and getting the go ahead score.

Bulldogs led by one at the half, but this Rams team with as big a statement win as you can get, they take it 70-63. Khaliel Spearman with 26. Rutherford's 16-2. Marianna, undefeated no more, is 18-1.
