Rams Losing Jon Hudson to School in Kentucky

Springfield, FL---Rutherford High School is now in search mode for a new head baseball coach. Jon Hudson, who's led the Rams the last 16 years, has resigned from that post to take a teaching job at Fairdale High School in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

Coach Hudson telling me Monday he will interview for the baseball head coaching job at that school in the next week or so. He's already been hired as a teacher at that school. So he intends to continue coaching.

This move allows him to do it near his parents and brother, he says he's looking forward to that. He says leaving Rutherford after 16 years though is bittersweet, he's loved the 500 players he's coached, as well as the boosters, teachers and administrators at Rutherford.

Hudson rather successful in his tenure on the diamond, 302-145 his record in 16 seasons, 19 wins a season. His teams 7 playoff appearances, with a region finals appearance in '99. Jon Hudson's departure a real loss for local baseball!

Rutherford A.D. Kirk Harrell sending out an email late Monday afternoon stating "We have started advertising for this position. We do not yet have a time schedule set for filling the position. But are moving in that direction."
