Rams Prepare for Playoff Opener

Springfield, FL----Several area high school basketball teams continue to work this week, work towards the start of the state playoffs. Some 13 qualifying for the state playoffs as district champs or runners up.

Except those in the 1A class, that means first round playoff games this week, Thursday night to be specific.

The Rutherford Rams among the area teams claiming a district title Saturday night.

They beat Bay to win the 5A-1 crown. That has coach Ross and company hosting Suwannee come Thursday in their region quarterfinal.

"We played them last year so we know a lot about them." says coach Ross. "We were fortunate to get some film on them. They got two division one players, they got a 6-9 sophomore, and a 6-3 senior guard, so, and they shoot a lot of threes, so we're gonna have our hands full."

The Rams making their 7th state playoff appearance in the last 8 years, their best run in that span coming in 2010 when they made it to the state semifinals. That game Thursday against Suwannee set for 7.
