Springfield, FL---The Rutherford football team gets an early jump on the rest of the area teams here in week 7 of the prep season.
Rutherford hosts a Thursday night game at Tommy Oliver against 5A-1 foe Gulf Breeze.
Rutherford 0-1in league play after a loss to Arnold a week and a half ago, so the pressure's on Rutherford, which is coming off a bye week, so some extra time to prepare for Thursday. That extra time rather valuable says head coach Alvin Dempsey.
"You know we got healthy this week I can say that much. We had some injuries in the Fort Walton Beach game. And this week kind of gave us time to get those injuries out of here and get the players back, get the players back on track to doing the things we've been doing all the time. We worked on a lot of offense you know. We lost 10-7 to Arnold, a good football team, but we worked on a lot of offense. You know you gotta generate some offense to win some football games."
The Rams with four district games total, and they know they can't lose the first two and expect a playoff shot, so pretty much a must win for them Thursday.
