Springfield, FL---The Rutherford Rams are now looking ahead to a Tuesday night game later this month.
The Rams were all set to face district foe Gulf Breeze this past Friday night. That game never began though because the ref's never showed! That left both schools scrambling to find an acceptable make up date, and Monday that date was set for Tuesday, October 29th!
"Right now the tentative date is set for our off week, the Tuesday of our off week." Rutherford head coach Alvin Dempsey told me Monday.
"Which is good for us because it means they have to come in and play two district games. We'll probably travel to them on Tuesday evening and play an early game and they'll come back here on Friday to Bay county and play Arnold. Our reaction wasn't much of a bad reaction. We just get there and there are no officials. We wait around all night long. We tried to figure out who went wrong and what went wrong. But overall the guys were calm, they behaved well and as we sat on the sideline waiting for the officials they were in playing form, so I'm proud of these guys."
Coach Dempsey says it's unfortunate when the guys work hard all week to prepare for a game and don't get to play, but they'll make the best of the situation.
They have to, the Rams this week host undefeated West Florida which clobbered Bay Friday. More on the Rams key match with West Florida Tech later in the week.
