Panama City Beach, FL --- Area high school football fans get a bit of an early treat this week as two Bay county teams host Thursday night games instead of Friday night.
One of those two games in fact pits two county and district rivals head to head, Arnold and Bay. Those two meet at Tommy Oliver, the Thursday night game necessary because Rutherford also hosts this week.
The Tornadoes at 0-3 in district are all but out of playoff contention. Arnold's 0-2 with those district losses to Rutherford and Mosley.
Given they still have 4 district games left, there is some realistic hope of the Marlins being able to scrap their way to the runner up spot. Winning those last 4 district games about the only way to do that.
"We are 3-2. And we do understand we can have a great season," said Marlins coach Josh Wright. " We know we've got a lot of tough teams ahead of us, Bay being one of them. i think Friday night's game is a matter of who can take the football and drive it down the length of the field and have success. That's where we've struggled in the last couple weeks. That's where they've struggled. So whoever puts together a better consistent drive offensively is gonna have a little bit more success.
Coach said Friday, he meant Thursday night, a 7:30 kickoff for that one. Also tomorrow night, Bozeman hosts Liberty in a non district game, they moved that up a day because of the fall break 4 day weekend.
