Springfield, FL---In terms of winning that first ever boy's state hoops championship, it's one down and four to go for the Rutherford Rams.
Coach Rhondie Ross and his players, despite an ugly first quarter that saw them down four, came alive for the final three quarters on the way to a 17 win over Wakulla Thursday night.
The first of five necessary wins is behind them as the Rams now set their sights on a 5-A region semifinal Tuesday against Rickards!
"Rickards is a team that known throughout the state of Florida, they're very rich in tradition," said coach Ross. "I just found out the other day they've won 7 straight district titles. And they won back to back state championships in 2008, 2009, something like that. They've got a player, a kid going to VCU. Very talented, well coached. As a competitor you always want to measure yourself against the best, and they've been know to be the best. We're looking forward to competing against them."
That 5A region semifinal will be played at home on Tuesday, February 18th at 7:00 PM.
