Rutherford Closes out Summer Slam Tournament

Springfield, FL---The Rutherford Rams baseball program hosted their second straight tournament in the last two weekends, as Sunday brought a close to their 2014 Summer Slam.

Local squads like Bozeman and Mosley also were in the field. The Bucks wrapped play Saturday, while the Dolphins wrapped against Wiregrass High School from five hours south.

Visitors up first in the first, benefiting from a couple of Justin Kelley wild pitches. Two runs come in on those puts the Dolphins down two.

In the bottom of the 1st, kids, Kelley at the plate pops it up, but the ball drops in the middle of the infield. One run comes in, the second, gets beaten by the throw.

But Kelley and the pitching sail from there and Mosley comes back to win 4-2.

As for how the host Rams performed, they played the game before, which had a 9 AM first pitch. T.Y. Reese throws the last pitch for a strikeout.

They win as well Sunday over Wiregrass 9-2.

The next tourney set for Shamplain is Grand Slam's World Series Session 4.

The Rutherford booster club also sends a big thanks to their volunteers for coming in to help run the tourney.
