Springfield, FL---It is a big night of play across our region Friday night. Several area teams hoping to clinch a spot in the upcoming state playoffs via a win in their respective district semifinals.
The Rutherford Rams among the area teams you would have to say are capable of a good postseason run. But that can only happen if they make it past the district semi's!
The Rams are part of 5A district 1 and as the top seed in that league, earned a bye into Friday's semifinal, which comes against Gulf Breeze, a team Rutherford beat twice already.
The latter win a 73-37 beatdown. Still that, the 20-2 record, the berth on the playoffs, all on the line tomorrow night, so expect a high energy effort from the Rams, says head coach Rhondie Ross.
"You know it's win or go home, if you don't win on Friday your season's over. So I feel like this time of year, in one and done games, you've got to play desperate, you have to play with a sense of urgency and you just have to play desperate out there on the court. We have pretty good senior leadership and like I said, these kids give everything they've got. We're small, but they give every ounce of their talent on any given night."
That Gulf Breeze-Rutherford semi 5:30 night at Bay. The host Tornadoes, the two seed, take on Choctaw in the 7 o'clock game.
Also hosting district semifinal games Friday night, Marianna, Chipley, Rocky Bayou, Bethlehem, Graceville and Liberty. Plenty of highlights and scores coming Friday night at 10.
