The Rutherford Rams, currently hosting their eight team "Ram Slam Classic" over at Shamplain saying "let's play two" today in their summer ball tournament.
Game one saw them face the North Florida Black Sox, a team made up of both high school and college players, including two former Rutherford stars from last year's district championship team, Tyler Broxson and Nick Nelson.
In the highlights attached above, Nelson goes deep to center in the 1st for an RBI double, then turns to his old dugout, saying he's not showing any mercy against his former guys.
In the Ram's half of the first, pitcher Logan Gildea helps his own cause out, driving in Jacquez Koonce, making it a tie game.
Yet the Black Sox tack one on in the second and in the third, Nelson drives in another RBI on the single to left, helping the college kids take down the high schoolers 10-5.
In the second game, the Rams faced a high school squad out of Biloxi. Up 4-1with two on in the 4th when Dustin Dykes slices one to right, the throw home is off track. Both runs score, Dykes comes home on a missed throw while stealing third.
A 6-1 lead is more than plenty for the Rutherford arms, like T.Y. Reese, who comes up with the K in the 5th, then drives in the sac fly in the 6th.
Rams win their second matchup 8-1, going 1-1 for the tournament so far.
Bozeman dropped their one game today 8-2 to West Hall, a high school squad out of Georgia..
