Rutherford Softball Comes From Behind Against Bay

Panama City, FL ---On the high school softball diamond Wednesday night, the Bay Lady Tornadoes played host to county and district rival Rutherford.

Early on, it was a pitchers duel, as both Jelly Mathes for Bay and Abbie Barron of Rutherford dominated from the rubber, giving up only one combined run through the first six innings.

The Lady Tornadoes scored first, carrying a 1-0 lead into the top of the sixth. But in that frame, the Lady Rams were able to put two across to take the lead, then added three in the 7th to win 5-1.

In the highlights attached above, Abbie Barron on the hill for the Rams gets the strikeout, working her way through a scoreless frame.

Top of the 5th, Lady Rams rallying with two on, Jelly Mathes gets out of that jam with the off-speed pitch, ends that threat, so the score is still 1-0.

In the 6th though, Rutherford rallies again, dribbler by Shay Potter, Mathes fields it and fires home, but it's late, game tied at one.

A fielder's choice plates the go-ahead. and then in the 6th Rams add three more, an RBI single by Taylor Todd.

Another fielder's choice and a wild pitch plate the other two, Lady Rams win 5-1, they go to 4-3, Bay falls to 0-3.
