Rutherford and 9 other area prep baseball teams get set for round one State playoff games.

Springfield, FL--As Spring drills get under way, ten area prep baseball programs are still working out, hoping to rack up five more wins and their respective state titles. Tuesday night it's round one of the state playoffs, five local squads hosting region quarterfinal games as district champs, five on the road as runnersup. Count the Rutherford Rams in that latter group, they lost to Wakulla in their district title game last week so tomorrow night they're on the road to Choctaw. Perhaps the two tournaments the Rams played in this season, one in Central Florida, and the one they hosted, winning them both, will help pay off starting Tuesday night.

Jon Hudson
Rutherford Head Coach

"Absolutely, we wanna get them back out there and have them in a competitive situation where they have something that they need to win. And I think having two tournaments that we play I think it really helps us out when it comes time for tournament play. That way we have other guys that need to get up on the mound and produce in big situations. Dakota's our ace, everybody knows that but we have other pitchers, we're 16-2 with other pitchers on the mound besides Dakota, so our guys are confident we can win with other people on the mound."

Here's the list of first round playoff games involving our area teams, all games with 7 local time starts.
