Let's face it, in most sports, polls don't mean all that much, other than to spark debate!

Certainly college football polls get people talking, arguing if you will. They also matter because they have in a very real way, a bearing on who wins the title! With that in mind let's talk about the first big preseason poll which came out today.

It's the USA Today Coaches Poll, and has LSU and Alabama one and two respectively.

Those the same two SEC West teams that duked it out twice last season, the Tigers winning the regular season game in Tuscaloosa, the Tide coming back and winning the National Championship game in New Orleans.

LSU has to break in a new qb., but let's face it, they live with that defense, which returns plenty of studs. Alabama lost some key pieces but is simply reloading, and it's q-b McCarron is another year wiser. If he improves dramatically, well that is a scary thought for Tide opponents. Below is the complete Top 25 Coaches' Poll, with first place votes in parenthesis, total points and where the team finished in last year's final rankings.
