Miramar Beach, FL---It is shaping up to be a rather big week ahead at Sandestin's Baytowne Marina.
That will once again be the weigh in site for the 11th annual Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic, which kicks off Wednesday with a captain's party, the fishing begins Thursday night.
Some 65 big time fishing teams have already signed up, and given they usually contribute more than 20 grand per boat to the prize pool, well it's safe to say the E-C-B-C is again going to be a million dollar tournament.
Last year because of a weather system that kicked up in the Gulf the week of the event, the fleet was reduced to just 38 teams, yet two tournament records fell.
"Done Deal" bringing in a 783 pound Blue and "Testing the Water" with a 190 pound Tuna.
Tournament Director Shawna Harris telling us Monday her Marina staff is hard at work to make room for the big boats in the tournament fleet, making arrangements for power, fuel and all the other necessities.
She says in fact several of the out of town boats have already docked at the marina, and are gearing up.
Harris says the Marina staff will be ready for the weigh-ins which go from 4 to 9 pm Friday and 4-10 pm Saturday.
