Search for New GC Softball Coach Heating Up

Panama City, FL---The search for a new softball coach at Gulf Coast State College is heating up.In fact, you could say, is now kicking into high gear!

Gulf Coast Athletic Director Gregg Wolfe telling us Monday the advertising process for the opening is now closed, and he and some "interview committee" members are now in the process of looking over applications.

"We've got a hundred plus applicants and we're trying to review them now, go through them and narrow them down." coach Wolfe says. "Interviews will take place the week of June 30th. I had a chance to look at them this morning, we picked all of the applications up at ten this morning. And I've been reviewing them all day. We have a variety of candidates. Division One, high level, high profile Division One coaches, all the way to the high school level."

Wolfe says they're not necessarily looking for the best coach, but the best fit, and by that he means a talented coach who can fit in with the college's and softball program's missions.

He adds the interview committee will pare the list of applicants to ten, then five, with the top five coming in for interviews.

They're hoping sometime following the July 4th weekend they will have a name to submit to new college president John Holdnak.
