Seminoles and Tigers Speak at BCS Media Day

Newport beach, CA --- Saturday served as media day for Florida State and Auburn at the BCS National Championship, as all the coaches and players, one team at time, jammed into a ballroom at the Newport Beach Marriott.

FSU went first which gave me the opportunity to ask Jimbo and his guys how their California workouts have gone so far.

"Been great. We have a great practice facility," said FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher. "The guys have had three outstanding practices since we've been here. We've almost had to say whoa a little bit. But they're practicing at a high level, execution has been at a high level, along
with the efforts. I've been very pleased."

"We haven't changed anything up," said Seminoles linebacker Telvin Smith. "This has almost been like a normal week of practice for us. We've been just going out there hard. We can't look at everything around us. We can't look at the clutter around us. We just gotta go out and play our game."

"We just knew that we really had to tune in, with having a week off, and then having a week off," said Florida State wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin. "We knew we just had to be focused. And going into practice and just looking like it was all business. And not having fun and really trying to focus in and just executing our plays in practice and stuff."

"You try your best to just stay in a routine," said Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn. "The National Championship is a little bit different but the fact that we did it three years ago gave us a little background, but our guys have done a solid job."

"Coach Malzahn has done a great job of keeping it similar to a regular game week," said Tigers Center Reese Dismukes. "I mean with all the stuff you have to do out here you know you have to
go out and practice and focus and look at as any other game. You know obviously it's a big game, but you've gotta prepare whether you're playing Western Carolina or Alabama or any other team like that."

Scott will have more from Southern California Sunday at 5 and 10, including Jameis Winston's explanation of his favorite motivational saying!
