Panama City, FL---To prep basketball news and some nice statewide recognition for a group of area players.
8 area boy's ballplayers have been recognized as All State players by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association in their respective classes.
In 4A, John Wade is among the 17 players listed as All State. Wade averaged 24 points 12 rebounds a game while helping the Rams to 24-4 mark, a district title, and two state playoff wins.
In the 3A class, Alex Hamilton of Chipley and Kruize Pinkins of Marianna made the list. Hamilton helped lead his team to a 27-0 record before falling to eventual state champion Rickards in the District Semi's. Pinkins Bulldogs also fell to Rickards in the playoffs.
There is a trio of All State players in the 2A class. Roman Quinn and Calvin Pryor, of Port St. Joe, and Chris Walker of Holmes. Quinn averaged 20 points a game, and Pryor 15, as the led the Tiger Sharks back to the state semifinal game for a second year in a row.
Walker, who averaged 28 a game for the Blue devils, helped his team to the region finals, where it lost to St. Joe. Chai Baker, of Malone, was selected all state in 1A.
On the girl's side of things, Mosley's Deanna Canfield made the 5A list, while Rutherford's Megan Thorpe made the 4A list. In 3A Bay's Akeelah Jackson an FACA All State player, and in 2A, the list includes Hillary Harper of Ponce De Leon, Kryston Cuchens of Paxton, Sam Snider of South Walton and Wewahitchka's Courtney Ward.
