Panama City Beach, FL-- We start in the gym at Arnold and the chance for scores of area high school weightlifters to earn their way to next month's state finals in Kissimmee. This what they call a Super Qualifier, first place in your weight class guarantees a berth at State.
This the 219 class, Bay's Johnny Atwell on the bench, he would lift 275 in the bench, 205 in the clean and jerk, his 480 total good for 4th, still could qualify for State but he'll have to wait out other qualifiers.
Arnold's Caleb Clayton Molby second in that class, 290 bench, plus 315, a 605 total, second place to his teammate Seung Jin Lee who was first.
Another Arnold lifter winning his class, Joel Ensminger, in 119, 225 on the bench, he cleans 225, 435 total, Joel headed back to State. Smedley, Kibbe Anderson also winning their respective classes for Arnold, so 5 guaranteed State berths, 9 other Marlins either 2nd, 3rd or 4th, so they could qualify as many 14.
Other first place finishers, Rocky Bayou's James Waldron, Bay's Ka'Ron Harvis, Rutherford's Nicholas Grant and Chipley's Garrett Enfinger. That State meet April 15th and 16th.
