Panama City, FL-- St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club there was a fund raising dinner to help one local sailor compete in one of the biggest sailing tournaments in the world.
That local sailor is Michael Whitehead.
The twenty-year-old starting sailing at the yacht club as a young tyke, now he will be competing against the worlds best this September in the inaugural red bull youth America's cup.
Matthew will head to San Francisco tomorrow to start training for the competition.
Which was the purpose of tonight as Yacht Club Commodore A.C. Littleton explains,
"8 young sailors from around the nation, and we were fortunate enough that one of ours is one of those eight. So this is a special event to raise funds for them and the Youth America's Cup will sail in San Francisco Bay in September."
