St. Joe Still Working, Looking Ahead to Blountstown

Port St. Joe, FL---Five area teams are still practicing this week, still working towards a possible state title.

Count Port St. Joe among them. The Tigersharks are getting set for a trip to Blountstown and their 1A Final, after surviving a tough test at home last Friday against South Walton. A game they trailed early but then rallied big time to win 45-21.

"It didn't look good at first as we got behind there 7-0." says Sharks head coach Chuck Gannon. "And then I think the turning point was when we made that goal line stand when they got down there the second time and we held them. And we were able to get some momentum offensively and went down and scored. And from there we got back into the ballgame and started playing a little bit of defense and picking up their receivers a little bit better. From that standpoint I just think we took off, we intercepted a couple of passes. And we put up 28 points there in the first half. That kind of got us going back on track."

And the reward for that is a trip Friday up to Blountstown to face
the 11-0 Tigers, who beat Liberty 40-6 in their playoff opener. We'll hear from the Tigers Tuesday night.
