Tallahassee, FL---The Seminoles are dealing with the departure of their Defensive Coordinator Mark Stoops Tuesday.

Stoops is heading to Lexington to become Kentucky's next head coach. He replaces Joker Phillips who was canned after 3 straight losing seasons there.

Stoops spent three seasons overseeing that FSU defense, making it a formidable unit. It ranked second nationally this year at allowing 294 yards a game, and 7th at 15 points per game, though FSU did not see too many high powered offenses this season.

Stoops Tuesday thanking Jimbo Fisher and FSU for the opportunity in Tallahassee, calling it three of the greatest years of his life, adding he's thankful for the support of all Seminole fans.

Stoops will coach through Saturday's ACC title game, but not through FSU's bowl game.
