Fort Walton Beach, FL--We start with high school football and with a look ahead to a rather big night for the Choctaw Indians this Friday night.
Coach Thomas and his troops getting set to take on Pensacola Friday in the 3-A region semifinals. Choctaw. coming off a 30-10 round one win on the road in Jacksonville, a game in which the Indians seemed to put it all together.
Choctaw. Head Coach
"I thought that was our best performance all year to this point. We were really playing well on offense, defense, special teams. Our kids were ready and focuses and it worked out for us and we're just happy to make it to round two."
This week a much tougher assignment, you see Penscola's 11-oh, has won 25 straight dating back to oh-8...it swept through the likes of Bay, Rutherford and Arnold, and oh yeah, back in early October, beat Choctaw. 49-nothing.
"Yeah and I'll tell you, we have our work cut out for us. But you're gonna have to see that team sooner or later so it might as well be the second round. We have a big challenge against a very good football team. We're gonna have to definitely play well to even have a chance. You know even if we do play our best game we're gonna have to have some things go our way because Pensacola is that caliber a team and hopefully we don't make as many mistakes as they do."
Choctaw's averaged 36 points a game while posting a 6-1 mark since that loss to P-H-S. That game at Pensacola set for 7:30 central.
