The Gulf Coast men's basketball team starts the season with two wins on the road.

Panama City, FL-For the Gulf Coast Commodores, it's two games in, and two in the win column. Jay Powell's relatively young squad going to a season opening tourney in Aiken South Carolina and beating both Aiken and USC Salkahatchie.

Jay Powell
Gulf Coast Head Coach

"The most impressive thing for me as a coach, they went in from the first moment of the first game and they competed the way you want grown men to compete. They were where they were supposed to be with their defensive positioning, they did their best. I thought they could at this point of the season with their defensive fundamentals. So those things make you really proud as a coach, especially as you mention, with a young team that, you know they've only been hearing these things for a couple, or three months. Where as if you have a sophomore laden team, you have guys who've been hearing it for a year and a half."

The Commodores back in action in Americus in South Georgia Friday against South Georgia Tech, Saturday against Waycross. The Indians meanwhile play two in Decatur, the Raiders play two down in Daytona.
