The Yellow Jackets get a big win over Cottondale Tuesday and a berth in their district baseball final.

Vernon, FL-- We start tonight with some high school baseball, district tournament style. Several area teams playing in their respective tourney semifinals, knowing a win guarantees them some kind of state playoff berth.
Vernon among the schools hosting tournaments this week, the Yellow Jackets making it into the 2-A two semi's against upstart Cottondale, the 8th seed which Monday night shocked top seed Holmes. Pick it up Vernon batting in the bottom of the third here, already up 4-2, make it 5-2 on the rbi single by Chris Pells, Dylan Kirk in. Then it's a tough hop for the Cottondale shortstop, Coppidge safe at first, Pells scores, it's 6-2. Pells on the mound for Vernon, protecting that lead, strikes out the side in the top of the 4th, the Vernon offense meanwhile adding 9 more runs, Jackets go on to win 15-3 in five, they'll host the title game Thursday night at 7, and will host it against Bozeman which beat Sneads in the other semifinal there 9-0.
