Sandestin, FL--Over to the Sandestin Hilton where once again the Southeastern Conference is hosting it's annual Spring meeting.
The league's athletic directors, football and basketball coaches and others gathering to discuss the issues that are facing college athletics in general and the S-E-C in particular. One topic talked about there this week, the practice of "oversigning" by some football programs in the conference. Schools signing more players than scholarships available, making some kids sit until the January after their first semester at school. The practice also called "greyshirting"
SEC comish Mike Slive thinking of reducing the number a school can sign in any one class from 28 to 25. Florida's new coach Will Muschamp says the Gators don't greyshirt, so he's not too concerned with all that, he is however enjoying his first Spring session at Sandestin

Will Muschamp
Florida Head Coach

"It's been great, been a great experience. Mike Slive our commisioner does an outstanding job, and the SEC speaks for itself. Second to none in nothing. So, it's been a great learning experience. I know most of these guys from my days as a player, and Coordinator in the SEC, so it was good to see a lot of familiar faces."

Another issue raised Wednesday, a proposal from South Carolina Head Coach Steve Spurrier the SEC pay it's football players 300 bucks per game, with that money coming from the head coaches salary. 7 other coaches, Muschamp, Saban, Miles, Dooley, Mullen and Houston Nutt. It will be interesting to see what if anything comes from the Spurrier proposal.
