Panama City, FL-- Thursday night turned out to be a rather big night for several area prep basketball teams. Those teams winning round one playoff games and are now looking ahead to the region semifinals. Chipley getting a big time win over over East Gadsden in their 3-A region quarterfinal, so that keeps their record perfect, 27 and oh now. Tigers head to Tally for a second round game Tuesday at Rickards, which knocked off Marianna. Over in Bonifay, a convincing win for the Blue Devils over Freeport, so they are into the second round on the 2-A level, they'll host district rival Cottondale Tuesday, which won at Baker last night. On the 4-A, Rutherford still celebrating an absolute thriller against Pensacola. John Wade leading the way with 27 as the Rams won that seesaw affair 62-57, the Tigers missing a three pointer in the final seconds that would have tied it. The day after, we spoke with coach Ross about that hard fought win.

Rhondie Ross
Rutherford Head Coach
¶"Yea these guys are pretty focused they were excited with the win last night but they were also wondering who won on the other side. They're ready to get back to work. We're happy that we don't have to travel, I was a little disappointed with the lack of fans last night. Hopefully the people of Panama City will come out and watch us and supports us on Tuesday, because we're going to need that home court advantage."
