Tuscaloosa, AL---This week is Iron Bowl week, though very few fans are expecting a typical Alabama-Auburn football game come Saturday.
The Tide come in 10-1 and ranked near the top of all the polls, the Tigers are 3-8, winless in SEC play and their coach is on a very, very hot seat.
Alabama has so much more to play for. In fact the Tide appeared to be knocked out of the national championship picture with the loss to the Aggies a week ago Saturday.
They came back and took care of business by whalloping Western Carolina, and then later Saturday night, after K-State and Oregon had lost, well there's the Tide, back at number two in the BCS rankings.
Just don't expect coach Saban to spend much time talking about all those BCS implications with the Iron Bowl on this week's schedule.
Says coach Saban "You know I just want to make everybody understand that we're not in any conversations about anything other than the game that we're playing. Unless we win the next game, we don't have another game. Alright, we're not, we're trying to work our way into a conversation by how we play. We're not trying to hold a position, we're trying to create one."
The Tide head into the Iron Bowl as 31 point favorites against 3-8 Auburn. When is the last time the spread's been that big in this series, if ever?
