Blountstown/Niceville, FL---And then there were two...just two area high school football teams still working this week, still dreaming of state championships.
Those two are Blountstown and Niceville, who are a combined 25-1.
Blountstown owns 13 of those victories, and they do not have a loss on their record.
The Tigers are coming off the blowout win over Cottondale, that in the 1A state semifinal. So coach Greg Jordan and his team now getting set for a trip to Orlando and a game against an 11-1 Trenton team in the state championship game Friday.
Coach Jordan telling me Monday afternoon they spent very little time celebrating Friday night. He says by the time they got to the bus, they were already looking ahead, since getting to Orlando was their ultimate goal when the season began.
Jordan says he spent a great deal of time in non-football related matters over the weekend and into today, lining up hotel rooms and buses. Also working to get film of Trenton in.
Monday afternoon they began the game planning. The Tigers will work out at home again Tuesday and Wednesday, hit the road Thursday morning, again the game is Friday night.
Blountstown gunning for it's 4th state championship, the other three coming in 73,76 and 77. Their last visit to the title game was in 04 under coach Johns.
The other team still working this week is Niceville. The now 12-1 Eagles coming off a third straight blowout playoff victory. They manhandled Fletcher 38-17 in the 7-A region final.
That moves them into the state semi's, and yet anothr home game this Friday against 11-2 Osceola out of central Florida.
