Tigers Ready To Head South For State Finals

Chipley, FL---The Chipley Tigers continue to work towards that first ever trip to the state baseball finals. The excitement level though certainly isn't dying down.

The Tigers beating Liberty and Bozeman in their two playoff games to win the region title and send them to the state semifinals in Fort Myers Monday.

That trip south start Saturday and it will leave from Panama City Beach, since some of the Chipley players will be spending Friday night in PCB following the prom there.

The team's head coach Andy Compton says his guys certainly won't let the prom be a distraction, this is simply too big a deal to all of them.

"It's an incredible feeling, we've worked at it so long. We've been really close. You know just to see the last out it was incredible just for that, just for our guys because they've worked so hard."

Chipley senior Jordan Finch talks about how long they've been angling towards this trip. "It's the best feeling in the world. Over summer we came one game short, one out short of winning the Dixie Youth State Tournament. So this year my message has been finish the mission, because we didn't finish over the summer. So finishing this year is a big part of the message, for me."

"You know it started last summer like we said." Compton says. "They're just one and that's what you've got to be this time of year."

Again Chipley's prom Friday night in Panama City Beach so the team bus will load up some of the players at the school early Saturday morning, head down to PCB and depart from there to Fort Myers, with a stop for practice in Brooksville.
