Tigers Ready for Title Shot in Orlando

Blountstown, FL---The Blountstown Tigers are just about ready to load up the bus and head south for a very important road trip.

Thursday morning the Tigers head to Orlando for Friday night's 1A State Championship game against Trenton.

Ten regular season wins for the Tigers, 3 playoff wins so far. That puts them in position to rack up a 4th state title for that program, the first since '77.

Tommy Futch, a senior Lineman puts it this way in terms of this entire experience.

"It's great because we've been working four years for this, all the seniors together have been working really hard for all this. We've been training and I mean it means a lot to this community and especially to us."

Senior Lineman Jay Williams echoes that sentiment.

"It just, it means so much to me. To work hard all four years of my high school career. And I'm finally here in my senior year, go out with a bang. It means a lot to me."

"For one is to enjoy the experience." says head coach Greg Jordan. "It doesn't come along every year and it's been a great year for us. We've talked to the kids, we've been perfect up to this point, we don't want to finish 13-1. We want to be a state champion when this thing's over."

The Tigers will leave around 9 am tomorrow morning, have lunch in Lake City, practice in the Gainesville area, then take it into Orlando.

Greg Brzozowski will be following the team on that trip, watch for his updates.
