CHIPLEY, FL-- Our month long tour of area practice fields leads us Wednesday to Chipley High School.
The Tigers under the guidance of Chip Harris for a third season now.
They've seen a nice progression the first two years. A 4-6 record in 2012, then 7-3 last year, the Tigers just missing out on a state playoff berth.
So as you might guess, that's motivating them big time, certainly the coach sees the result of that motivation!
"We had the best summer, as far as our kids showing up and working in the weight room, and on the field, that I've had in a long time." coach Harris told us. "And the fall camp, those first two weeks are a booger-bear, sometimes you're running two practices. The kids are wore out, their legs are wore out, they're exhausted. Some of them are dropping some weight. We're at a point now where we're ready to hit somebody else."
Just six starters return, so the Tigers are young, and coach is hoping they'll improve as the season progress towards district play in week six.
Chipley will again be a part of the 5 team 1A-district 3, alongside Blountstown, Bozeman, Holmes and South Walton.
The Tigers set to travel over to Liberty Friday for their preseason classic, they open the regular season the 29th at Northview.
