Chipley, FL---Count the Chipley Tigers among the area teams advancing to their respective state region finals, thanks to a Tuesday night win on the home floor over Port St. Joe 66-41.
The Sharks came into that game at 15-13, the runnerup in district 4, Chipley, at 20-2 the champs of district 3. The latter, based on the record looked to be the favorite. The game played out that way, though the Sharks brought plenty of energy early, attacking and shooting early and often.
The first half going back and forth, and staying a one or two possession most of the half. Late in the second quarter though the Tigers, led by a 6 point spurt by Trent Forrest, were able to grab a 35-27 lead at the break.
In the second half, Chipley able to pull away and win the game with a comfortable margin, 66-41. Forrest led the way with 31 points, Tyrome Sharp and Justin Campbell each add 16.
Chipley, now 21-2, moves on to host their 1A region final Saturday night against West Gadsden, which beat Northview in it's region semifinal 61-54.

A packed house on hand to watch this one, and they saw a high intensity first half, Sharks in the dark uni's, strike first with the three ball from Marquez Johnson.
The Tigers answer that with the drive and one from Tyrome Sharp.
Back to the other end, T.J. Williams starts the drive then kicks it out to Sergio Clemons in the corner for three.
A bit later though the Sharks a little off the mark with the shot, Trent Forrest rebounds and fires ahead to Sharp who gets another three point play, 13-10 end of one Chipley.
Second quarter, this time Williams does drive it in, and gets the floater to fall.
That's when Chipley's Trent Forrest started to take over, first he drives and scores.
Then a bit later Justin Campbell finds Forrest cutting to the basket.
Then again Trent hauls in the defensive rebound, but this time takes it all the way himself.
