Panama City, FL--To college baseball and the pitching staff at Gulf Coast is about to get a little stronger. David Trexler confirming to us he's transferring from Florida State to the Commodores. A redshirt freshman this past season, David pitched just 15 innings for the Seminoles. He says the staff at FSU was trying to change his mechanics, and he preferred to pitch somewhere where he could be developed, but with the same mechanics he has.
David, who pitched his senior year of high school ball at Mosley, says when he signed at FSU, G.C. coach Mike Kandler told him if things didn't work out, Kandler would have a spot for him, David appreciated that and is glad he can take advantage of it.
He adds he's excited to be coming back to play with Kevin Husum, a former teammate at Bay, and Rutherford alum Dakota Spikes who signed with Gulf Coast as well. He expects to compete for top spot in the rotation, but also expects to play some outfield and he's looking forward to swinging the bat again.
