Gainesville, FL--To college baseball now and to say the least it's a good debut for Chipley alum Karsten Whitson down in Gainesville.
¶ Whitson making his first start for the Gators Sunday, he tossed five innings of one hit, shutout ball, and struck out 9 in a 5-0 win over the University of South Florida. His fastball clocked consistently at 94-94 miles an hour.
He told the Independent Florida Alligator afterwards quote "This is the reason I came to school, to throw on this Gator uniform and just come out here and pitch." unquote.
You may remember Whitson the 9th overall pick in the big league draft, turned down 2 million plus from the Padres to play at Florida.
