Panama City Beach, FL--To the Gulf Coast Triathlon now and organizers of the 2011 race are calling it a success. G-C-T Race Director Shelley Bramblett telling me Monday quote "it was such a great race". She put the number of racers at a thousand including relays, Shelley calling the weather perfect, perhaps the best ever in the event's 29 year history. She says there were no incidents at all, so that's very good, the volunteers turned out in great numbers, adding they were enthusiastic and the feedback from the athletes about those volunteers was incredible. Bramblett says that's a big plus for this event in attracting athletes in the future. If you don't have good volunteers as Shelley puts it, nothing else matters.
This triathlon is a non profit event and Shelley believes somewhere around 25 thousand dollars will soon be handed out to a variety of community groups from the G-C-T foundation.
