Panama City, FL---The Bay Tornadoes are one of many high school football teams in the region preparing for a spring game or jamboree later this week. The Tornadoes will take part in a four team jamboree at Arnold Friday.
Bay head coach Jim Longerbeam telling me Monday day he's been working with about 45 players on the varsity level this spring, some 65 total. And overall he's rather pleased with the spring effort.
"It's been a really good spring." Longerbeam says. "We've had just a few little injuries, nothing major. And the kids have worked really hard. It's kind of a culmination of the whole season, you know the winter program, so they've done a good job. You know our biggest thing was to try to get some of our youngest guys up to speed. And develop some depth and I think we've done that so far."
Coach Longerbeam says as far as Friday's Jamboree is concerned, first and foremost he wants to avoid injuries.
And he intends to keep the play calling pretty basic, just see his team execute the basic things well, tackling, snapping the ball, not committing penalties.
