Panama City Beach is hosting the twelfth annual U-S-F-A Girl's Fastpitch World Series this week.
The world series started with only seventy teams and now plays host to 308 teams.
The first week of play will be held at four complexes throughout the week. The second week of the world series will be next week and will host over 200 teams.
Not only are the games exciting for the girls and families participating, but the world series is a huge economic boost for the area.
"The first year there were seventy teams and now twelve years later we will entertain three hundred eight teams and next week over two hundred. It's grown into a very big event that generates over twenty thousand room nights this week alone as well as an economic impact of about ten million dollars," said Richard Sanders, Vice President of Sports Marketing at PCB Convention and Visitors Bureau.
