Vernon Coaching Search Winding Down

Vernon, FL---Vernon is among the area high school's currently in the market for a new head coach, and that search is now in high gear.

Vernon principal Brian Riviere telling me today that search is well into the interview phase, with some 9 candidates having already come in to meet with the search committee face to face.

Mr. Riviere says they intend to talk to two or three more candidates, and perhaps by as soon as the end of the week the committee could have a recommendation for Riviere's approval.

Riviere says they had interest by several dozen candidates. He says they are looking for a coach with some head coaching experience.

The principal Riviere did not give us the names of any of those interviewed, but we've learned former Blountstown head coach Bobby Johns is among them and we believe, is a leading candidate to get the job.

The position is open after Ryan Boyd was let go after a 1-9 season.
