Vernon, FL-- To prep football and a situation at Vernon that could force a change in the status of head coach Russ Rogers. Washington County School Superintendent Dr. Sandra Cook
telling me Friday afternoon the coach has received a letter of reprimand, and has responded to that letter. She would not go into detail as to the nature of the reprimand, saying the matter is still being investigated, and will be resolved at the next school board meeting February 14th. Cook says she believes it's important to give Rogers all due process, and as of now Dr. Cook says Rogers remains the coach and A.D. at Vernon, though that could change on the 14th. The Superintendent says Rogers' status as a P.E. teacher is not in jeopardy at this point. I spoke with coach Rogers briefly by phone this afternoon, he says he can't comment on the situation.
Rogers has been the head coach of the Jackets the last 4 seasons, an 8-3 overall record last year, 6-2 in that very competitive 1-A district.
Back in oh-7 he led the program to a district title. Whatever the matter, it's been rather sudden, because just last Monday, Rogers' contract for another year was approved by the School Board.
