Fort Walton Beach, FL--To say the least this is going to be a rather big week of play for several area football teams, because for many, it marks the start of district play.
That's true for the four of the 6 teams in 6-A district two, including Mosley and Fort Walton Beach.
Those two go head to head Friday night at Riggs Stadium on the Fort Walton Beach campus.
Both teams are 2-1 in their three non district games so far, but again the truest test of how good you are comes when you play your district brethren.
No doubt both head coaches, Perry Brown and Mike Owens hoping for good weather this week. Monday, yet again the teams having to dodge some rather nasty thunderstorms to get any work done. I spoke with coach Owens as he and his guys were doing just that Monday.
"If you're gonna play football you've got to keep playing to get in football shape and you know it's just been very inconsistent." says coach Owens.\
"But you know it's just what we have to deal with. So our kids have to, like today we're kind of shut in right now waiting on the storms to pass, and hopefully we'll get out and get a little time in. You know especially seeing a different kind of offense and defense like a Mosley team, it's tough. You know we need to get as many reps as we can."
Later in the week we'll visit with Perry Brown as he and his Dolphins put the win at Arnold behind them and focus on those Vikings.
