Gainesville, FL---The University of Florida confirms former Holmes basketball star Chris Walker is not enrolled in school there, with Tuesday's Drop/Add period being the absolute deadline for incoming students.
That means Walker failed to meet NCAA academic standards for enrolling at Florida, and means he won't be practicing or playing with the Gators as planned in the next few months.
Walker telling ESPN Tuesday "Now I understand how serious high school is, and that you can't take the work lightly. I didn't do as well, and work as hard as I should have early in high school."
Chris went on to say he'll continue working on academics, hoping to qualify for UF's spring semester and be ready by December.
Walker, along with guard Kasey Hilll part of a stellar incoming recruiting class for Billy Donovan.
Despite struggling with grades his senior year, Chris spent two weeks this April in Chicago and in Jersey for national All-Star games. You wonder what, if any, those two missed weeks have to do with his poor academic status?
