Wewa Gators "Polishing" Things This August

Wewahitchka, FL--- The football practice field at Wewahitchka is one of the field's this August where players find themselves under the tutelage of a new head coach.

Loren Tillman moving south from Bozeman after guiding the Bucks varsity the last 9 seasons. He steps in for the retired Dennis Kizziah, and takes over a team that was just 2-8 in 2013.

Coach Tillman says spring was an introduction, and from there, the players have been all-in.

"I think they, the kids did a good job." coach Tillman says of the spring and summer seasons. "We were able to go to a couple of camps. Get some 7 on 7's. Work hard in the weight room, the running. So I'm pleased with the progression. Right now we're in a polish phase, instead of a learning phase. In the spring we were really in a learning phase. That's really where we want to be this time of year, polishing. And that's where we're at, so we're happy."

Coach says he's working with around 30 on the varsity level, good for 1A ball. The Gators play at Franklin on the 22nd in a preseason classic. They start the regular season at Port St. Joe the following week.
