Wewa Lady Angels Gear Up for Softball World Series

Wewahitchka, FL--At this time of year we see many area youth baseball and softball teams playing in state tournaments, and for a fortunate few, even into regional or national tournaments.

Count the Wewahitchka 10-U softball team as one on that list this summer.

The squad last week took the 10-U Dixie Youth title at the state tourney in Carrabelle.

That has this "Lady Angels" squad heading later this week to South Carolina for the Dixie Youth World Series, which will encompass teams from 11 southeastern states.

Certainly these youngsters playing for the here and now, and the chance to win that title, but their coach Doug Sloan says this experience, no matter what, could also pay off big time in the future!

"You know Wewa's been known for softball for a number of years, they've had a great high school (program) they won the state championship in 2007 and 2008. As a matter of fact most of the girls from those teams were the 12U state champions twelve years ago."

The team heads to Georgetown South Carolina Thursday, it's first game Saturday against Mississippi. They could use financial help traveling, in interested visit Wewadixiesoftball.com.
