Kizziah returns as Wewahitchka Head Football Coach

WEWAHITCHKA, Fla- The Gators go back to the future, so to speak, under head coach Dennis Kizziah.

Kizziah, who was head coach at Wewa six years in the late 80's, returned as an assistant last year. He's taking the helm from Todd Lanter, who remains on the staff there.

They're all looking to improve on a 2-8 season, and they'll try to do that with some 22 players on the varsity level.

"We just gotta get tougher physically," Kizziah said. "Last year we weren't very tough. We let people push us around. And it's gonna be harder this year because we're small, we're really small. But we just gotta play with a lot of heart and play tough."

The Gators have 6 starters returning, who all played on both sides of the ball. Wewa will play in the new rural 1-A district two, alongside Cottondale, Graceville, Sneads and Vernon.
