South Walton, FL-- The South Walton football program in search mode just weeks before fall practice begins.
Head coach Bill Wiles leaving after just one season, in which his team was 1-9. Wiles accepting a the head coaching job at Sante Fe High School in Gainesville.
His verbal resignation becoming official at a walton school board meeting Tuesday night.
Wiles telling the Northwest Florida Daily News he left because he claims he was basically being ignored as the school's Athletic Director, another title he held. The school chose not to respond to that.
Coach Wiles has coached in the Gainesville area before, at Branford, Trenton and Bell. He's also been the head coach at Graceville.
The school deciding not to promote an assistant to succeed Wiles, and is advertising the opening, and hoping to move quickly to fill the post with practice set to begin August 6th.
