Tallahassee, FL---You may have heard recently Jameis Winston's father wants his son to stick around Florida State for two more seasons!
The fact they've reportedly bought insurance this coming football season against a career threatening injury seems to contradict that.
Yahoo Sports is reporting Winston has purchased a disability and "loss of value" policy that provides him with $8 million to $10 million in coverage.
Winston's policy based on a projection that he will be selected in the top 10 of the 2015 NFL draft.
The Yahoo report states the policy pays if Jameis falls out of the first round due to injury or illness.
Underclassmen who purchase insurance policies as large as Winston's almost always enter the NFL draft following the season for which they purchased coverage. That reality largely due to the hefty premiums players have to pay out of pocket.
Policies the size of Winston's can carry cost $55,000 to $60,000. That likely requires financing the policy.
Winston is the reigning Heisman winner, 4-thousand yards passing, 40 touchdowns, while leading the Seminoles to an ACC and National Championships!
